Press Release: Valencia High School's Two 'N Four Vocal Jazz Ensemble Selected to Sing At Nationals!

February 13, 2023

For the first time ever, a jazz ensemble from the Hart District and Valencia High School is heading to the American Choral Directors Association National Convention on February 21st, 2023. This is a huge opportunity for them as it gives these students the chance to perform in front of many College and University Professors, Musicians, and Composers/Educators - this performance on a college resume as "Performing at a ACDA National Convention" is a huge portfolio/resume item for anyone applying to college. Sometimes these performances also mean scholarships to college. In preparation to head out to ACDA, we invite you to see them perform in their final home performance February 16th at 7:00pm Thursday evening in the VHS Theater, doors open at 6:30pm.

The VHS Choir Program, led by Choir Director Christine Tavares-Mocha, has a mission to "Inspire, Uplift, and Cultivate Community". There are 6 internationally touring choirs with 150 students participating in the program. The jazz choir department at Valencia High School, helps provide students with key opportunities for educational enrichment, such as guest lecturers, professional musician visits, educational trips, competitions and private lessons.

Dr. Getz, Valencia High School Principal says, "We are excited and honored to be represented by Mrs. Mocha and the Two 'N Four Jazz Ensemble at the ACDA National Convention, I will also be attending.
